Page Background

We’ve improved our asset management

through implementation of condition

based strategies resulting in ongoing

savings of $13-14 million a year.

We adjusted the method for cleaning

the ballast on our tracks, minimising

inefficient short possessions and

saved $10 million.

Hundreds of hours of productive time

have been unlocked by examining the

way we inspect our network.

We were able to accurately target repairs

by using train GPS data to help monitor

the condition of the track.

Working smarter saw us save $1.6 million

in track maintenance costs with no

reduction in quality. We achieved this

by aligning our maintenance schedule to

better reflect the actual tonnage hauled

on our network.

We saved time and money by giving

our project managers access to a

real-time view of all materials on

hand by introducing an electronic

stock monitoring system.

SUPPORTING REGULATORY

CHANGE

On 29 June 2017 the ACCC approved

a further 4.5 year extension of the 2011

Hunter Valley Access Undertaking based

on commercial terms that we agreed

with our customers, providing regulatory

certainty in the Hunter Valley until the

end of 2021. The ACCC acknowledged

the extensive consultation process that

we undertook over a 2.5 year period

to achieve this stakeholder-supported

outcome.

OUR IMPROVEMENTS TO FORWARD
