Customers are enjoying more flexibility

and improved efficiency thanks to

an extra track at the Kooragang coal

terminal. Innovative redesign saw

this $29 million project delivered 20

percent under budget and on time.

Continued progress on a program of

innovative improvements to the way

we control trains that will maximise

continuous train flows and decrease

dwell times (ARTC Network Control

Optimisation – ANCO) has been

welcomed.

Customers are increasingly recognising

the value we provide with further

positive improvements in the latest

Customer Satisfaction Survey scores.

A SAFETY FOCUS

The Fatal and Severe Risk Program

has been effective in highlighting the

top 10 extreme risks to our staff and

contractors to make further safety

improvements.

A spotlight on safety saw a 150

percent increase in reporting of

identified hazards and a cut to the

number of incidents and safe work

breaches by our contractors. We’ve

also continued our staff Quarterly

Safety Awards with criteria including

demonstration of innovative

improvements, safety focus and

ongoing behavioural changes.

DRIVING EFFICIENCY

We’ve seen positive results in

the areas of cyclic maintenance

strategies, delivery mechanisms,

costs and process efficiencies

from our adoption of the Continuous

Improvement Framework that’s

created a leadership environment

that values and drives improvement

ideas.
