We successfully created and recruited 60
new positions for the government funded
rail line upgrade project between Adelaide
and Tarcoola in South Australia. Through
the delivery of the works a further 130
contract roles are expected to be created
through contractors and suppliers.

We’ve recognised a number of employees

values via our quarterly Values Awards
where our CEO selects the winner after
nominations have been shortlisted by
business area representatives.

We conducted a business acumen training
pilot with a broad range of roles across
our business. This training provides insight
into using relevant financial data in day
to day decision making, and understanding
the organisational strategy and financial
objectives to engage employees and teams
in their contribution to the bottom line.

Our Leadership Framework has been
focused on the core work of our Business
Unit leaders and, consistent with our
company value of Active Engagement,
enhancing their capabilities to improve
the dynamics within their teams to
maximise workforce input.

We had a strong focus on equipping
our leaders with the tools to help improve
engagement with their teams. This included
training to improve active listening, increase
clarity of the work of roles in the business
and ensure that regular performance
discussions are held. We also highlighted
positive leadership behaviours through
our reward and recognition programs to
share positive examples throughout the
workforce.

Two enterprise agreements were
successfully negotiated –Australian
Rail Track Corporation (NSW) Enterprise
Agreement 2016 and Australian Rail Track
Corporation Enterprise Agreement 2017.
Negotiations are ongoing to replace
ARTC’s other enterprise agreements.
