ARTC MEDIA STATEMENT – Main South railway line

UPDATE – 6 JANUARY, 1600 hrs:

The Australian Rail Track Corporation (ARTC) has reopened its Main South railway line after an earlier suspension due to extreme fire conditions in the rail corridor.

We would like to thank our customers for their patience and cooperation during these unforeseen circumstances. We would also like to thank all emergency services for their support and acknowledge their continuing efforts at this time.

UPDATE – 6 JANUARY:

The Australian Rail Track Corporation (ARTC) has reopened some sections on its Main South railway line after an earlier suspension due to extreme fire conditions in the rail corridor.

  • The Main Line Moss Vale to Macarthur has been reopened and available for traffic.
  • The Main Line Moss Vale to Unanderra has been reopened and available for traffic.
  • We are forecasting the reopening of Main Line Goulburn to Moss Vale at 1600hrs Monday, 6 January following completion of tree removal and restoration of power lines by power supply companies.

PRESS RELEASE – JANUARY 3:

The Australian Rail Track Corporation (ARTC) will suspend operations on its Main South railway line between Macarthur and Goulburn from Saturday, (4th January) 9:00 am until further notice due to forecasts of extreme fire conditions and high wind activity in the rail corridor, which may have safety impacts on running services. ARTC continues to monitor the conditions and will act on the advice of the NSW RFS with safety as our primary concern.
