ARTC will be promoting the benefits of rail in a ‘Making Rail Freight Work’ session at the Australian Logistics Council’s Forum 2014 to be held on March 19-20 at Royal Randwick in Sydney.
Session chair, John McNamara, general manager marketing and customer relations ARTC will reinforce the economic and social benefits of expanding rail freight’s share on the east coast corridor.
“ARTC is focused heavily on improving rail freight’s reliability and capacity and reinforcing to our customers the economic, environmental and safety benefits of rail freight – issues which I look forward to highlighting as chair of the ‘Making Rail Freight Work’ session at the ALC Forum,” McNamara said.
ARTC has invested $3bn in its east coast freight rail lines over the last five years promising a network that is more reliable, supports more trains and offers second morning delivery.
“With a rising national freight task Australia must move more freight on rail, both on interstate rail lines between our major cities to intermodal terminals as well as intrastate movements,” ALC managing director Michael Kilgariff said.
“Getting more freight on to rail will not only improve overall freight efficiency, it will improve urban amenity, reduce road congestion and decrease queuing times at ports.”
The Making Rail Freight Work session will feature the following speakers:
